Quick facts about the projects Dorsett Diverging Diamond fact sheet (2 pages, 160 kb)
St. Louis' first diverging diamond interchange (DDI) opened to traffic on Sunday, October 17, 2010. Since the opening, MoDOT has noticed the success of the DDI in easing congestion and handling the traffic flow. Traffic exiting the interstate at Dorsett may turn right on red at the bottom of the ramps after stopping and yielding to oncoming traffic. Motorists need to anticipate traffic from the proper oncoming roadway. Drivers cannot turn left on red; it is illegal in Missouri. The interchange was converted to a DDI in October 2010, and the project was completed by the summer of 2011.
